Mrs Booboo Posted March 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2005 I found a web site (http://www.caymancarrentalguide.com/) that advertises one day rentals for cruise ship passengers from Budget. It says they have a location at the Pier in Grand Cayman. Has anyone used this web site to book a car online? Any problems once you got to port? Is the location within walking distance from where the tenders dock? The prices seem very reasonable and we would really like to rent a car for the day and do our own island tour since we've done the Stingray City thing twice already. Chips401 Posted March 25, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 25, 2005 We rented from Avis. They picked us up from a souvenir shop at the pier and brought us to the rental car office. They were very polite and friendly. I would reserve the car in advance as there are many people arriving on the same day that you are. Most people are extremely disappointed when they arrive and cannot rent a car. We paid $39.95 U.S. for the day.
divadiverfl Posted March 25, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2005 We go at least once a year by plane for a week. We rent from Coconuts it was at the airport before Hurricane Ivan--I am sure it might be back there. But what ever you do make sure you get their insurance plus a license. It still is cheaper if you do book inadvance. Where ever you go-go around all the Island and check out the million dollar homes destroyed. They got it worse than anything. A lot of our eating places are gone. (Crows Nest--Sea view--Coconut Joes) They said they might rebuild. It is great to drive on the Island. If you are getting a small car get one of the Altos-they are so fun to whip around in and go over bumps--it makes you feel like you are back in elem school riding the bus and the backend goes up in the air over a bump. Have Fun:) :)
