Galveston transit

I was wondering if Galveston has buses running along the seawall and

to the strand. I was hoping to avoid taking taxis everywhere.

I would appreciate any info on this...thanks

Walk, taxi or drive. Public transportation is not the greatest anywhere in Texas.

There is no public transportation on Seawall, Island Transit covers most of downtown and routes can be checked on line.

visiting Galveston :). Is walking advisable at night down the Seawall?

I wouldn't walk on the beach late at night.

Why not? We have gone down with the dog to walk the beach, not up on seawall. If there is a full moon, it is beautiful.

Walking on Seawall, as any other street in any city, one should exercise caution. It is a different world we live in now.

Thanks everyone. I have one more question...do any of the hotels offer

shuttle service to the Strand?

The Hotel Galvez has a shuttle that goes to their other hotel, the Tremont House, one block from the Strand. Post Office Street has art galleries and more restaurants - 2 blocks from the Tremont in the other direction. The Tremont guests can use the pool and facilities at the Galvez.
