My brother won around $10K playing Black Jack and Craps over a 7-Day Cruise.

On the first day, he promised half of his earnings to the dealer if he won on Black Jack.

He won $1,000. True to his word, he tipped the dealer $500.

After the first day, he remembered to not make any more promises. lol

My word - what does this guy DRINK !!

I'd make that offer, only if the dealer would share in half my losses! ;)

My cruise on the Ecstasy last November, I won 6,000 on a slot machine the first hour the casino opened after setting sail. I was so thrilled that it hit the first night of the cruise.:D

Nice! If you don't mind sharing if it was $1 slots or penny slots and how much you had bet when you hit?

I have only hit $150 or so on penny slots in ship casinos playing the max $1.80 bet.

On the Sunshine last year there was a gentleman who was the most disciplined blackjack player I have ever seen in my 25 plus years of playing.

Him and his wife would play a spread from $15.00 to $100.00. Every night he won and when he would get up $2000.00 he would quit. It was amazing. I got to know him and he said he had never had a run like this in his life.

On the last night he was up his $2000.00 in just under an hour. He was dying to play some more and he followed me around the casino just to talk and hang out, but it was killing him because he wanted to play some more but he was disciplined and did not.

His luck must have rubbed off on me because on the last night my wife and I had a great run and won $1500.00 which for us is a lot.

Don't you just love winning on the first night. It sort of takes the pressure off for the rest of the trip, whether it is on a cruise or a land based casino.

Ive won a few jackpots over the years. $1500-$2000.Yes i gamble. I've disembarked a winner and a loser....sometimes ahead $1000 and once at a loss of $2000. But i'd gamble anyways so i might as well do it on a cruise. Soooo, imho i think one of the the biggest ways to win from the casino comes from the free cruises. Ive been offered up to 100 cruises. (yep 100 at a time....book as many as you want).

I haven't personally witnessed it but on JH's page there are pictures of two people that won 20K on Blackjack for one bet.

I can't believe it was for just one bet... as I can't recall ever seeing a table limit over $2,500 on Carnival. Granted, they could have split to 4 hands and doubled each - thus you'd have 8 times your original bet in play (potentially $20,000). Having said that, I have many hundreds of hours playing BJ on Carnival and have never even seen anyone betting over $1,000/hand.

Can you provide a link to those photos - I'd love to read the story.

I saw a lady win 27,000 in one night degenning on roulette. She said she lost 10 k her previous cruise and was stuck 8k before that evening. She was really nice and always used to let me bum smokes if I left mine in my room!

Saw another dude lose about 20k over a week last xmas. He was cool with it which is really weird to me.

The cynic in me thinks this screams of a card counter.

The most I've ever won on the ships slots was $125 on the a Pride in May. There were a lot of serious slot players on that cruise and a lot of people winning. I saw one woman win $2000 move to another machine and win $400 right away. For all I know she could have been down for the week. There were definitely some machines that were hot. I thought I was playing a lot but it took my till the 6th day to get1500 points and my frr drink card. There were people who got that by the second day.

It was for one of the side bets at Blackjack. Lucky Ladies, or whatever they are calling it. It wasn't a win on actual Blackjack play. (As a matter of fact its a loss on the hand, cuz it only pays that much if you get the right first two cards AND the dealer pulls a BJ.)

This past Dec. on the Triumph I hit the royal flush for $2236 playing .25 video poker and I had a couple hundred dollars in credit still, so I upped my bet to a $1 and ten minutes later hit the royal flush for and $8000 jackpot!!! My best cruise ever.

Not on Carnival -- they deal BJ from a CSM (Continuous Shuffle Machine), meaning that there is ZERO potential for that type of advantage player. Even Rainman would stand the same odds as a basic strategy player!

As I recall, they limit the amount that you can place on that side bet, and I'd be very willing to bet ;) that on Carnival the maximum payout is something like $5,000. But I welcome anyone with specific knowledge. I don't pay a lot of attention to it (don't play the sucker bets).

I won $4300 on a penny machine at $6 a spin.

Penny machine? Sounds more like a $6 machine!

Just having a bit of fun - no ill will.

I know that most machines are not best played at a single unit bet. I'm familiar with Video Poker, where a $.25 machine is actually 5 times that ($1.25) to get the top pay tables. I think, and you slot guys will know this, that most slots are 3 coins, right ?

Penny machines though, I'm not really sure about. I'd guess that nobody ever actually plays $.01 per spin, correct? Do they even work at a single bet level? Do most of them have a particular optimum payback level of play?

Thanks,

Tom
