GayleR Posted July 31, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2011 Anyone been to the Royal Palms lately?
terryde Posted August 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2011 We were there in January 2011- beautiful! We actually walked there, but you can take a cab. No admission charged, $10 for each beach chair, beautiful pool, loungers around the pool with shade curtains, buy your own food and drinks. It gets busier in the afternoon - we went right off the ship early in the morning. You can snorkel right from shore and it is great.
robinsra Posted August 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2011 We just got back. Yes the beach is beautiful, $10.00 per chair and $10.00 for umbrella. We had two teenagers 14 and 17 with us Before we left I e-mailed Royal Palms to see if the boys were allowed at the pool. She said as long as we were with them no problem. Of course we get there and they don't let the kids in the pool. Also unless you order food you can't sit and have a drink at the resturant with the kids, it is considered a bar and kids can't be there unless they are eating. I would definitely go to seven mile beach but not sure if Royal Palms would be on our list. At least if the kids were with us.
GayleR Posted August 3, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted August 3, 2011 Thanks for the info! We are not taking our kids so no worries there. So if you pay for a lounger and umbrella on the beach and decide to go to the pool do you lose your lounger and umbrella? Or what if you go to eat in the restaurant? robinsra Posted August 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 3, 2011 they give you little red flags to put on your chair and umbrella. We were the only ship in port that day so it wasn't that crowded. You could keep a towel or something on the chairs and you get a receipt when you pay for the chairs. There were people from the ship just laying towels on the sand and didn't have to pay for the chairs.
Colorado Kat Posted August 7, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2011 We really liked Royal Palms. Mostly, we sat on the patio and ate/drank, as it drizzled for a bit. When it cleared up, we moved to the pool area. Nice little spaces, divided by gauzy curtains, surrounding the pool. We didn't sit on the beach, so no money spent for chairs. The pool is heavenly! green eyed lady Posted August 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 7, 2011 We were there in Feb. Beautiful beach but the beach chairs are the most uncomfortable I have ever been on. I wouldn't go back there for that reason alone
ibcnusoon Posted August 8, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 8, 2011 Any other beach resorts, perferably with a pool, that will allow kids? I'll br bringing a 14-year old. Thanks.
Leen729 Posted August 8, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2011 We are going to be in Grand Cayman in September and thinking of going to Royal Palms. Anyone know how much they charge for the cabanas? I e-mailed them a few days ago but no response yet.
