How do you communicate?

My group of three went with three friends on our last cruise and we tried walkie talkies. Before we even left the first day we went through 10 different channels trying to find one that didn't have other people on it. We didn't use them after that.

I say use the phone to communicate between cabins. They also have phones by most of the elevators, say you were out and you wanted to see if they were in their room, just find a phone and call them.

Make sure everyone knows what each others wants/plans to do that day and agree on meeting times.

This is why i ask!! I never thought about so many people using so few of channels. I honesty think i may get a little dry erase board or something for each of our doors. It just seems like the walkie talkies would be a pain. It's always just been my husband and I on a cruise together so we have never really had to worry about this before.

I would really hate to plan any specific breakfast time or anything because we both like to sleep in and would hate to feel like we have to get up because we told so and so we would be somewhere at a specific time. That to me isn't a vacation!

Thanks for the great tips and advice!!

My husband and I are talking about cruising with my sister and her boyfriend. I highly doubt we will book joined rooms, as they have a different budget and may or may not book a balcony. I will be booking separate and I don't even know if we will be on the same deck. Kinda doubt it? So since cell phone usage is so expensive on board we will not be using a cell phone to talk and unless we are in our rooms I don't know how the room phones would help much.

We don't plan on being together all the time, but if we need to get in touch do we have any options? I think I've read before of people using walkie talkies? Does they work throughout the whole ship?

Any advice would be fantastic!!

For those of you who use the voicemail on the phones. Can you check vm from the house phones are do you have to be in the cabin?

5 cruises and I have only used to phone for room service.

Bumping this up... I didn't see an answer to this question.

Are the phone systems all the same throughout the Carnival fleet? If not, I'm looking for the answer if you've been on the Freedom. Thanks a million!!
