Navy base?

Has anyone ever stayed at the navy base in New Orleans the night before the cruise? And if so, could you keep your car on post and taxi to the port? Thanks in advance

The base that is close to the river is in the process of closing..,,:( We do still have one in Belle Chasse, but that is about a 30 min ride by Taxi. There is very little left on the base in NOLA, it will all be closed in Sept and become a Federal City with nothing but individual buildings for different organizations... no commissary or exchange or Navy Lodge. There will be no security there for leaving your car in any of the lots. If there are any other questions I can help you with, let me know. We have retired here and I work in the French Quarter.
