Harbor House v. Tremont House, Galveston

Sailing from Galveston for the first time next year and I want to spend 2 nights there pre-cruise. I can't decide between the Harbor House and the Tremont House! I know the Tremont House is fancier, but I like the Pier 21 location of the Harbor House.

Anyone stayed at one or both that can give your opinion of the places???

Thanks!!! I can't seem to find any other hotels in the historic Strand area.

Correct those are only two!

You can't go wrong with either!

They are close enough to one another,

it shouldn't matter relative to access to pre cruise activites!

You can watch ship come in from either location with only a different perspective(closeness to ship and water) Confirm the terrace will be open on top of Tremont for observation.

Both are about 2 blocks from terminal pier.

Regardless which one to stay in you can access

all same activities easily from either.

Both are owned and operated by same, and as Galvez,

and a limo to serve all three and reciprical privileges at all three hotels.

Like swimming pool and bars!!!!!

The rooms in both are wonderful. Relative.

The Tremont is a boutique hotel and very European.

Harbor House is very coastal design I would say and nice.

Tremont has very nice, small great deli like

and broad menu restuarant in lobby area .

HH has no restuarant for breakfast near by. But a few seafood and greek are close by for lunch and dinner.

Tremont has great bar and soft piano music.

HH has none,

except Greek Rest has greek music and belli dancing on weekends nites usually!!

Both are one block from old town strand area and both are about three blocks from post office street where restuarants and 1894 Grand Opera House are, and if your interested in a

Broadway/Theater/Concert event! Wonderful

Thanks for the feedback!! Makes me want to stay at both!

Really anxious to visit Galveston. Planning on 2 days before the cruise and for the heck of it, since it's my birthday cruise I'm booking a limo to take us from the airport out to the hotel.

I guess I'll just make my decision about the hotel depending on what type of rooms are available and when.

I have stayed at both. I prefer the hh, because I love to wake up and see the cruise ship out my window. The Treemont is a better if u hang out at the hotel alot, because of the bar and small restaurant. The hh does have a free small continental breakfast.

Hi CSI Melissa.....we are sailing out of Galveston next April, and we booked the Tremont for two nights before the cruise. We don`t have our transportation from the airport to the hotel. You mentioned a limo, can you provide me with the number and how much it costs, because I would like to book a l imo as well. Thanks

Don't know when you are cruising but end of March they are all booked already. So you might want to book whatever you can find- they are cancelable until about 2 days before you arrive. Good luck- we tried about 8 hotels that we wanted to stay at before we found one with rooms.

I just booked the Tremont Hotel. I found a great rate on Expedia for $110/night which seems to be better than most hotels in Galveston.

I cruise in two months so will try and remember to report back. :)

That's a great deal and I think you'll enjoy the Tremont!
