remember to check it out for our next FLL cruise...

Welcome to Florida!

 

 

The hotel was really nice! When we booked the room, we requested one that was high up and faced the port so that I could watch the Oasis leave on Saturday night, and so that we could see the Allure in the morning.

The hotel itself had a huge lobby area that kind of reminded me of Central park on the ship.

The whole lobby area is open, not to the sky, but there is nothing there.

 

There were rooms all around the lobby.

 

We got to see both the Carnival Freedom and Oasis of the Seas depart that evening.

10 minutes from the Port

 

 

woke up on Sunday morning and

saw the Allure out of our window!

 

We are getting on this ship in a couple hours.

 

Our room was very nice. There was

a living room area with a pull out

couch and there was also a bedroom

with two beds.

 

This is the living room, I didn't take any pictures of the bedroom.

 

My aunts arranged transportation to

the port through the hotel, so we

left around 11:15 for the port.

It took less than ten minutes

to get to the port.

Hi. First-timer cruiser here. I'll be on the Allure on Oct. 30 -- can't wait! Could you experienced people tell me what things are like when you first get on the ship? I'll be having a bag-pack and a roller-style carry on bag. Do I have to carry those with me as I go check out the ship and have lunch? It wouldn't be that big a deal if everyone else is doing so. Also, are there different places open for lunch on that day? I've read that the Windjammer buffet can get crowded (and I imagine more so if people have their bags with them) so wonder if there are other places to go? I'd just like a little info on what to expect until I can settle down in my room and read through the Compass and figure out our next move. (My husband will be with me.) Thanks!

just as a note if you go to the top of any Thread and click "Search this Thread" you can enter words like Embarkation or Menu, etc and see all of the posts in a particular Thread or on the Main Board that include that word...you must be logged in to use this feature...sometimes it is down and won't work but most times it is available and very helpful...hope that helps

Hi again Scecy: to answer your question the cabins are usually not available until after 1:00 so yes you will have to keep your carryons with you while you eat your embarkation meal and yes there will be others doing the same... Sometimes a little before 1:00 (like we did this time) we will check to see if our cabin is cleaned yet so we can at least put our carry ons in....

After our embarkation meal we went back to the cabin to unpack and the we explored the ship a bit while we waited for the welcome aboard show...instead of the usual Dreamworks show in the Aqua Theatre we were treated to a Dreamworks parade because of rain...Sailaways are more fun on the Pool Decks, Listening to music and watching the shore disappear as the ships Sails Away to the next port...

 

However we weren't gonna allow this to stop us from enjoying ourselves... the parade was nice....we watched it from the Schooner Bar just above Guest Services Deck 6...our pics didn't come out very good but you can make out some of the characters...

because they needed to use it for the

this pic gives a great look at how the Windjammer looks...for crowd control they have stations for different items...for Lunch for instance: Salad bar...Asian Infusion,...hot items - meats/chicken, veggies, desserts, soups, hamburgers/hotdogs are in a grill section, etc, there are two sides to the WJ and both serve the same food and look identical...the WJ is the place to go when you don't really know what you want or when you are eating with several different people that may have a variety of tastes...

Our Tables were over near the windows... it was a great location...our Waiter and Assistant Waiter were superb...

 

dress code the first night is come as you are...they realize that some people may not have all their luggage by the time dinner rolls around and also most have not had time to change for dinner...this time most of us had received our bags but decided to stay out and play before dinner rather than take time to change so we just went to the cabin and freshened up a bit...

our first dinner was over and it was on to the show..

 

at 9:00pm we had our first Show...it was CHICAGO and it was

a wonderful show...I luv the shows and this was one of my

favorites...The singing and dancing were superb...they really

did a great job of portraying the movie...they say not for kids

and I agree...there are some scenes that are not kid friendly

 

Remember: It is best to make reservations for the shows before

you sail and be sure you get to the shows on time...they start

letting people without tickets in at about 10 minutes to show

time...the Amber Threatre is large so it may not be an issue

but the Ice Rink and the Comedy Club are not so large

We enjoyed a pizza at Sorrentos every day...now that's something we don't do much of back home...

 

it's nice because you can get one slice (or however many you want at the time) of already made up or you can select your own toppings...it's a great way to get that evening snack when Dinner was over at 7:30 and now it's 11:30 and you need a bite to keep you going so you can go to Dazzles or Blaze or Boleros or another club and dance the night away...which is what we did every night....there was always some kind of music going on in the evening...

 

sometimes we would take our pizza to the cabin, though, especially if it were mid afternoon and we had just returned from a tour...

so the first night we went to bed happy campers...everything had worked out well...our shuttle picked us up from the Hyatt Place on time and we arrived to port and were on the ship in no time...Dining tables were corrected..reservations that had not been made before sailing were made and all Sea Passes were corrected...

 

we had a great welcome aboard lunch in the oh so crowded Windjammer, explored the ship a bit and then enjoyed a great Welcome Aboard Parade on the Promenade Deck..dinner was good...the night's entertainment was also and we thoroughly enjoyed Chicago...

 

Except for the rain during sail away which caused the Welcome Aboard Show that was suppose to be in the Aqua Theatre to be cancelled and changed to a parade on the Promenade Deck instead it was a perfect first Day!!!

 

now on to day 2 in Nassau..

Bye Bye Ft Lauderdale, be sure you are port side during Sailaway...the folks in the buildings and on the beach will be waving like mad and have bye bye signs in their windows to wish you happy sails...plus this is the side that the Port Cams are on...

I had been looking fo pictures of a

Junior Suite (JS)...still can't find any

for Allure but here sare some

from Oasis...probably same on Allure...

Rooms were ready at 1:00. I had Junior Suite 14632. I took a chance with this room under the pool deck because I wanted the views from the high deck. I was pretty lucky through the week. There was very little noise from above. I believe my room was under the forward part of the H2O Zone.

 

 

Room sizes were advertised as being slightly smaller than RCI's most recent classes of ships. I did not notice a difference in the JS. However, my parents were in a D balcony and the size difference was noticable. If anyone is familiar with the Solstice Class rooms, these rooms are designed exactly the same.

Sisters had gone to eat breakfast earlier in the MDR...they have a menu to choose from and also a buffet that yucan make selections from...you do not sit at your normal table for Breakfast or Lunch in the MDR...you are seated as you arrive at what ever is avaiable at the time...which is great for us as we get to meet new people and we love that part of cruising...I had ordered breakfast to the cabin...

 

In no time at all we were off the ship and standing on the pier...there is actually a button on the elevator noted a Gangway..push that and whatever port you are at magically the elevator knows where to take you...
