Thomson Dream questions

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Booked on this cruise and have a few queries, have previously cruised with Thomson, although first time on the Dream and already looking forward to this holiday. Below is our itinerary and wondered if anybody had any feedback for DIY trips or Thomson trips. Just double checking that they accept debit cards as payment(I am sure they will) but just like to check! We arrive quite late into Palma and with it being October does anybody know what time the Carrefour opens till as would like to get some water for our trip, although not expecting it to be blazing hot :(. As anybody cruised at this time of year with regards to the weather conditions or should I say sea conditions  ! be nice to hear if anybody else is joining us. Think this is a re-positional cruise and the Dream will then go from Tenerife for the winter to the Caribbean. Would love to know who will be heading the Thomson entertainment team.

Thanks Sue ;)

The Dream is amazing, you lucky thing!! :) I have been to Naples on a cruise a few years ago and I suggest a trip or DIY to anywhere as I dislike Naples with a passion. We didn't do a trip and ended up back on board within 30 mins!!! Livorno is nice we went their we we were on the Dream in May.

current Cruise Director is Paul Fisher, and ACD is Paul Evans -no idea if they will be staying with Dream to relocate to the Caribbean though.

Civitavecchia is not so nice so do a trip for Rome (Rome on your own Thomson trip is perfect! transport to and from Rome and then do what you like while there) and also Naples isnt too nice but theres plenty to do - Vesuvius and Pompeii are both worth seeing. Villefranche is gorgeous and lovely to walk around, eat, drink and has a beach (pebbles) although it might be a bit cool to swim at that time of year LOL (Having said that we did Villefranche in october and it was lovely and we did swim!) - its very close to Monaco and its do-able on your own on the train, also even closer to Nice - again the train is easy.

Weather..... we went round the med on Destiny in October half term 2009 sailed on 22nd - the week previous to us had a really rough and dull wet week - we had blazing sunshine and temps of 25 degrees plus after the first day - we arrived in cold windy rain and the sea was quite rough first night! after that it was smooth sailing all week and in Rome we had 29 degrees - so I guess its hit and miss.

The Dream is a beauty - you will enjoy the cruise regardless of the weather/sea :D

just noticed your debit card question - Im not sure - we have always used the credit card - everything (trips, purchases in the shops, bars, bingo, casino) is charged to your on board account then settled from the card you provide at check in - it might be wise to ring up and check if no one can confirm debit cards are ok?

We registered a debit card and had no problems. When we went on the Dream in July we did the Rome Express (Train) and Sorrento and Pompeii from Naples, sorry, didn't do any of the others, different ports of call.

We had some windy nights and the ship rocked a bit but nothing major and I'm a terrible passenger, (get sick when travelling unless I'm the one driving!), but I was fine, just put seabands on the wrists and was good to go
