Bourbon Orleans Hotel (New Orleans)

Has anyone stayed at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel? What is your opinion of the property and its location? Are some of the rooms on Bourbon Street and if so how quiet are they? Would you stay there again?

We are thinking of booking this hotel but am open to others in the French Quarter. Just want something that is close to the center of the French Quarter.

Thanks

My wife and I stayed there a couple of years ago (someone gave us a gift certificate) and we liked it a lot. It s a very convenient location, on Orleans Avenue in the middle of the Quarter. We had a room facing Bourban, and had no problems with noise. Like most French Quarter hotels, the rooms are a little on the small side, but very comfortable.

Commentary on OP aside, I'd recommend Inn on Bourbon if you want to be on Bourbon street, although -- 1) a balcony on Bourbon street may double the price and 2) a courtyard room is much nicer if you prefer sleeping.

Bourbon street will stay hopping and loud until 4am.

We always stay at the Omni Royal Orleans but have, many years ago, stayed several times at Bourbon Orleans. Visited NO last October and stopped into the Bourbon...seemed depressing and lacking spark. Don't know how the rooms stack up anymore but seeing the lobby so down really turned me off to it.

The Inn on Bourbon is smack in the center of the Quarter. Noise will be a factor in choosing a balcony room. The courtyard rooms overlooking the pool are nice. Try ACME for seafood, especially oysters or Deanie's on Iberville, one block west of Bourbon. Many locals eat there and it is great.
