TandAatsea Posted September 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2011 Hey there!!!!!! Just a quick inside scoop of the type of people we are: outgoing, night owls ( work in bars), love to relax on the beach, enjoy cocktails, and culture We have never been to Antigua. Perhaps looking for a hidden jem. We are traveling on the Carnival Freedom Sept 10th. Looking forward to enjoying the island, but all the information has caused such a confusion. Cheers!!!!! Rob & Beckys mom Posted September 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2011 Having done some "google" searches :) we have tried looking into Hawksbill Beach to see if it is similar to Orient Beach on St Martin. Not sure if this would be acceptable to you as parts of these beaches are clothing optional. Castaways Travel - Hawksbill Beach Resort Jan
TandAatsea Posted September 2, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted September 2, 2011 Thanks for the reply. We did do some research into that property however, it seems its a hike from the cruise ships? Also, we believe you have to pay an entrance fee as it is part of a resort ( its the third beach in the resort). thanks for your suggestions keep them coming! Rob & Beckys mom Posted September 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2011 Hawksbill is less than two miles from the ship, as the crow flies. This a quote from another post. Not having been there it is all I have to offer as to distance. Looking forward to a quiet beach day & hope you find a good one as well. All Antigua beaches are public and free to use. The trick is to get the hotel security staff to let you through their private property on to it. I believe they will let you through if you explain that you don't want to use the hotel's facilities, chairs etc. but it's not guaranteed. Unless you want to use the clothing optional beach at Hawksbill, you may be better off at a beach with a bar or restaurant with chairs to rent.
