What should we be expecting to pay for on the cruise? I have learned from past experience (at resorts) that "all inclusive" is never ALL inclusive?

 

We rarely drink alcohol, but I know we should expect to pay for sodas. What else has a fee?

From what I've been told, things like coffee and tea are free. The specialty resturants are a extra fee. Pictures are also a extra. They charge a fee for sitting at Johnny Rockets and Ben and Jerrys. This is our first cruise as well and as you read more, the more info you get. Have a great time and good luck.

The specialty restaurants are a flat fee. When we were on Explorer in October the fee was $20 a person (very worth it in my opinion), but I have heard rumors that they are now $25 per person. I guess I'll find out for sure in December when we go on our next cruise. But honestly, if you can swing it, the specialty restaurant is a nice alternative and very romantic.

We are planning to go to the Italian one (he is vegeterian and Italian is always good). Can we make the reservation before we go? I hear they fill up fast.

Since these cruises aren't "all inclusive," it is probably best to focus more on understanding what is included rather than what isn't included.

No reservations in advance. Make Portofinos one of your first stops when you board. They have the main dining room menus there also, and can tell you when the major (lobster, etc.) nights are there, so you can book Portofinos on a better night. Book your ressies right there at P's. Also, check out Chop's. It's fantastico!

Where is it that you can view the regular menus on the ship? I like to know ahead of time so I can prepare what I might order, as I'm a picky eater.

Other free things are the rock wall, mini golf, basketball, ice skating, and roller blading. They offer virtual golf for around $25, and you can get dive certification for $300-400, during the week. We did Portofino's on the Explorer and we loved it! Can't wait to try Chops this time. Money WELL spent.

Fru-fru lattes also cost about $6.

For pictures we are encouraging our first time cruisers to wait at least 2 days until they buy any pictures. By the end of the week you get quite a few pictures!

Some of the free things we enjoyed were the Krooz comics in the Royal Promanade. Also wait mid week and RCCL T-shirts go on sail 2 for $10-$20.
