Robert's Hawaii or Viator

Recommended Posts

We will be on the POA Dec 10th - 17th and are looking at shore excursions.

Trying to decide what tours to do in Maui and Kauai where we dock 2 days both ports.

Looking at Robert's Hawaii (gorabbitgo.com) or Viator (viator.com). They both offer similar tours in Maui and Kauai and similar pricing (Viator a few $$ more).

Does anyone have experience with either tour company (Good or Bad)? Any recommendations?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

In 06, NCL used Roberts for most of their shore exs. I see where some of their tours are very similar to those offered by NCL. They also offer tours around the cruise ship schedules - I did not see that on Viator. I would either book through the ship or Roberts. A third option would be to arrange for a rental car and use one of the various tour guide books.

We enjoyed the Tubing Adventure on Kauai the most.

NCL tried to buy Roberts but they refused so NCL ended up buying Polynesian Adventure Tours, as a result Roberts started undercutting the smae tours and thatsa why you can presently save over 40% by booking with Roberts (gorabbitgo)

We have used then for two cruises and are booked again for January. We like Roberts because they use smaller transportation vehicles than the cruise line and also get a good start on getting and leaving to the destination before the cruise ship.

Roberts also uses the same tour guides and drivers for the same tours season after season so they know all the history about the tour as well as short cuts getting to and from the destination.

Oops I though I was posting on the Hawaii board so this info may disappear as I don't believe your to discuss tour operators on here.

We used Roberts last year when we were there.

NCL used to use both Roberts and Polynesian Adventure Tours for their tours. Then NCL purchased Polynesian Adventure Tours and dropped Roberts to go exclusively with PAT.

Roberts has a guarantee that is very important as well: They guarantee you will not miss the ship due to your tour and if something would go wrong and you do, they will reimburse you for all expenses to catch up to the ship. Does the other company guarantee that?

Roberts VNP tour was excellent. It was the same tour than NCL offers but Roberts was half what NCL was charging. Our driver (and the other ROberts bus doing the VNP tour), had us one step ahead of the NCL busses the whole time. We would be pulling out of a stop as they would be pulling in so the stops were not as crowded. The other stops (Big Island Candies, Macadamia Nut Factory) were more enjoyable without the hordes from the 3 NCL busses.

Someone who we met on the ship commented to us that they wished they had gone with Roberts in Hilo because everyone on the NCL busses were envious when they saw the Roberts busses pulling out as they were pulling in...lol.

We also did Roberts in Kauai and it was a great tour as well. In Honolulu, our group of 18 chartered our own tour through Roberts. Mini bus and driver for 9 hours to go wherever we wanted. (we had already set up Dole Plantation, Pearl Harbor, Punchbowl and city tour.)

In Maui, we rented a car because we had been there before and knew where we wanted to go.

Roberts also has a great shuttle service from the Airport to the POAm and/or the POA to the Airport or Waikiki as well as from Waikiki to the Airport. Their shuttle service is $6 to or from the ship to the airport or ship to/from Waikiki. It is $9 per person to/from the airport and Waikiki. Another great service.

I can't say enough about how great Roberts was.

That's good to hear!! I am currently debating on which Excursions to go on with Roberts.

Thanks!
