MSC Cruises USA Posted September 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2011 JOYBABY- We do prefer that guest's do not begin arriving until at least 1pm, should there be any delays due to customs or immigrations. However, if the ship clears, you can board a bit earlier, but please keep in mind if there are any delays, you will not be able to board that early. Satincruz Posted September 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Why does the ship leave so late? 7pm. I think it is mainly to allow enough time for all of the flights from Europe to get in.
monicajay Posted September 12, 2011 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2011 I think it is mainly to allow enough time for all of the flights from Europe to get in. Many flights from Europe arrive late. In March this year, we departed at around 9h30pm. We were waiting for 45 passengers on a flight from England that was arriving late. Because our first port was Key West we had no problems getting there as scheduled. :) That evening, staff members told us the ship often leaves late as many Europeans book air inclusive packages and if a flight is late with lots of passengers they will wait. It was kind of cool leaving in the dark. As we passed those big apartments on the north side of the inlet, many of the occupants flashed their lights at us. To the OP we arrived at the pier at noon and boarded by 12h15, very fast and efficient.
