calikak Posted March 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2005 I think EC and US are different plugs. The EC ones are round, and ours are flat and run vertically. Also, in the US most things are 110 volts instead of 220 or 240 like you guys use over there. I'm not quite sure how it all works for you guys, I just know that if I try to plug my haidryer into a UK or European plug, it will probably catch on fire. That's why I don't pack one! :D A crock pot is basically an electric stew pot, you put in your ingredients, plug it in, and 6 hours later, dinner is cooked. ourlol Posted March 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2005 Nick, You are correct, our plugs won't work. We took a Worldwide/US travel adapter (which normally retail at under £5), but found we couldn't charge up our mobile phone with it. I have to take a phone as I need to stay in touch with an elderly relative while we are away. The phone needed to be plugged into the shaver socket for some reason. Our room steward sorted it out with one they keep in store. He also brought another adapter so my daughter could use her hair straighteners. There was a refundable deposit. If my memory serves me right it was about $5, which we got back when we returned the adapter on the last night. Laura
