batman4279 Posted March 30, 2005 #26 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Did anyone hear Julio and Willie sing "To all the girls I've loved before" in the karaoke bar? They were great. I think that was the highlight of my trip.
MamaParrotHead Posted March 30, 2005 #27 Share Posted March 30, 2005 there's been a few of you posting on this thread that say you were on the cruise...where's your review? cough it up, will ya? :D
RobDG Posted March 31, 2005 #28 Share Posted March 31, 2005 I was on the 9am Canopy tour.....I don't remember 2 couples. There were a few families....we were at the front of the bus both ways and the family in front of us had the boys that were sick and we had to stop for the older one to lose his lunch...ring any bells? We were just finishing up our tour when another group came through the cave and were suiting up. We were on the catwalk above them repelling down....we were all being silly and yelling 'don't do it'!!! We do have a daughter that will be celebrating her first birthday next month. No way would we have brought her with us....I saw more exhausted parents pushing strollers on this cruise. I allowed a women to cut in front of us in the tender line in GC...she was alone w/a 3 month old and 3 more children under the age of 5. She had taken them to the beach by herself and looked like she wasn't going to make it. I was really angry w/the group behind me that was cursing because we allowed this women to get in line ahead of us...such a lack of compassion. We stayed w/her until she was back on the ship, giving her a hand. She was still thanking me at the end of the cruise! Ok I think we were in the second group. Our group had mostly young people including a group of 5-6 teenage guys. No sick kids thankfully. I remember taking a few pictures from the ground of the first group coming down that last rappel. Leaving GC was very bad.. Sorry to hear about the idiots behind you in line. I would have done the same thing for the family. I will say I saw a lot of perfectly able people trying (and succeeding) to cut in line. Enough that I politely told a guy I preferred to keep my place in line when he attempted.. lol ;) Well here is to GC getting a mile long pier built with a moving sidewalk built-in or 10 more docks with 10 tenders per before I return. :D

SomewhereBeyondTheSea Posted April 4, 2005 #31 Share Posted April 4, 2005 I will be sailing the Valor on 5/29. Can anyone tell me if there is self laundry on this ship? I know the Legend had wash machines and dryers on every deck but I'm not sure about the Valor. Also, I hear the pool areas are over crowded and it can be tough finding 2 lounge chairs together. I hear this is a problem with the larger ships but fortunatly I didn't have this problem when I sailed the Legend last May.
MizzouMary Posted April 4, 2005 #32 Share Posted April 4, 2005 Littlebit12, Yes, the Conquest class of ships have self-service laundry facilities on them. There are, if I can remember correctly, 2 washers and dryers in each laundry room with one ironing board and iron. They take quarters and you can buy detergent, etc. there. The pools are small for the ship's size and the vast amount of passengers. It was hard finding chairs together on sea days, especially if we waited to go to the pool until the afternoon. MizzouMary Posted April 4, 2005 #33 Share Posted April 4, 2005 I know I've asked this several times..but I never get a response. Do you know if they have the NTN trivia games in the sports bar? Jtaime, I did not see the NTN game in the sports bar on the Conquest, which is the sister ship to the Valor. I play occasionally around my hometown and it is so much fun. It would be great if Carnival had NTN so it could be linked to all of their other ships too!
ginak1112 Posted April 4, 2005 #34 Share Posted April 4, 2005 Finding chairs was tough during spring break week on the Valor but we did. Actually, we found chairs stacked on the upper pool deck and carried them down to the main pool and had a great location. We looked for a crew member to help us out and we would tip them but, strangely, we couldn't find anyone. Another day we sat in club chairs under the shade for 30 minutes waiting for the chair hogs to show up (only towels on their chairs). We moved the towels and sat down. We were there 2 hours and no one ever came!!!!!
zydecocruiser Posted April 4, 2005 #35 Share Posted April 4, 2005 A few (FEW?) Valor ship pictures from Mar 20 sailing. I had a bargain basement Cat 1A inside cabin on the Empress deck that was fine. Lots of floor space with the other bunk stuck in the ceiling. Next to laudry room which is both good and bad. Also had a refrigerator and bathrobes! marktac Posted April 5, 2005 #39 Share Posted April 5, 2005 We're on the Valor 4/24....thanks zydeco for the pix. I'm assuming that was a upper/lower bed cabin? Plenty of room it appears with the upper stowed away. We're taking the Eastern route, and we lucked out...only Valor and Disney in Nassau, and we are alone in St. Thomas & St. Martin. I don't think that we've ever had that before. Mark T.

zydecocruiser Posted May 26, 2005 #47 Share Posted May 26, 2005 I will be in this cabin in Dec 2006 for the CC group scuba cruise. Thanks for the info and pics! Was there noise from the laundry next door? The laundry didn't make any noise, but sometimes the spring breakers having drunken hallway conversations did. Not sure what else - sounded like might be room service trolleys rolling around, once in a while a ding from the elevators, but none of it bothered me enough to investigate. If it did, that's what the extra pillow is for. I thought it was a great value considering the cabins all around me cost a lot more money and they would have had the same sounds. First time I haven't had a balcony or at least an outside and survived just fine. I'd stay in it again, but guess I can't if I go on the scuba cruise.
