Crowne Plaza Republic in Paris??? Pre-cruise

Just put down deposit on Viking's "Portraits of Southern France" for July next year! So excited! We are doing the 3 night Pre-cruise extension in Paris and the cruise hotel is the Crowne Plaza Republic. Has anyone stayed at this hotel before and what was your experience? Recommendations for restaurants near hotel? I did check out TripAdvisor and most reviews were favorable. I do not subscribe to Facebook, so that is not an option.
