rodan Posted September 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Is there a bus that goes to Pedro St. James Castle? If so what are the route numbers? Also what is the admission to the castle? Thanks, Rodan
TurtleTagger Posted September 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2011 The bus will get you within 1/4 mile or so of the Pedro St. James (may even drop you off there if they are feeling friendly, but you'd need to walk back to the main road for the return). Routes 3,4,5,8 or 9 are on the way. http://caymanislandsyp.com/Island/Getting-Around/index-2.php Admission is $10 US http://www.pedrostjames.ky/
judyzoo Posted October 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Where would I board the bus to get out there?
judyzoo Posted October 16, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Would I be able to pay for the bus fare in US dollars?
judyzoo Posted October 16, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Sorry -- two more questions. 1) Can I pay the admission in US dollars? Do they have guides?
TurtleTagger Posted October 17, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2011 You would need to walk back to the main road (guessing a 1/2 mile), cross the street and flag down a westbound bus from the roadside. You can pay in USD, but you will get any change in CI$ for either the bus or the admission to Pedro St. James ($10 US). They do have guided tours of the house and grounds that follows a multi-media presentation.
judyzoo Posted October 17, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks a bunch for the info, TurtleTagger! Sounds so much better than taking a $50 shore excursion that won't spend enough time at the Castle but would hurry me off to some other place that I've been before. TurtleTagger Posted October 17, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2011 If you do take the bus, just make sure to leave PLENTY of time to get back to George Town and also take into consideration time for the tender lines. Also, the cliffs over the sea there make for a nice photo op.
judyzoo Posted October 18, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2011 We don't sail until 6 pm, so if I get out and about early, I should be fine. I have been to George Town several times by ship, so I do know about those tenders. But I may chicken out and end up doing the ship's excursion anyway, since I'm traveling solo and would hate to be left behind alone!
