fitzy123 Posted September 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2011 We are leaving on the Conquest on Feb 19, which is the Sunday before Mardi Gras. We are arriving in NOLA on Saturday Feb 18, at 11:30 pm. Wonder what we should expect when we arrive (other than the obvious). Will we be able to get a taxi to our hotel (Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center)? Will there be street closures? Starting to get a little nervous that it will be so crazy when we get there! We will have our two teenage sons with us so we won't have much opportunity to join in the Mardi Gras fun.
curcurt Posted September 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2011 One of the largest parades will parade this night (Krewe of Endymion) and it looks like they will disbanded on or near Convention Center Blvd. Not looking good to get to your hotel anytime fast. Traffic will be a nightmare because of this parade and all the people trying to get to the French Quarter. Maybe someone else can give you other information, since we do not go to parades anymore. curcurt Posted September 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2011 Let me correct myself, I believe they may go back to the Super Dome in 2012 for disbanding. If they do, then Convention Center Blvd. might not be to bad, except for people trying to get to the French Quarter. For Mardi Gras 2011 they disbanded at the Convention Center and had their big Extravaganza Party in the Convention Center. They usually have their big party in the Dome, but it was going through major renovations. Here is their web site, but they have not updated it yet. http://www.endymion.org/

curcurt Posted September 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2011 Yes, it will be an adventure, if you decide to walk over to the French Quarter. It will be wild.
