excursion from St Thomas to St John

Recommended Posts

Excursions are available of you could do it yourself. Simply get a cab in St. Thomas, go to Red Hook, and catch the ferry to St. John. You will arrive in Cruz Bay. From there, catch a taxi to Trunk Bay. It has full facilities including a snack bar. The water and beach are beautiful. We saw many others snorkeling there. But the beach was not full. Then, when you are done, simply take a taxi back to Cruz Bay, and take the ferry back to Red Hook, catch a taxi to the ship or to downtown Charlotte Amalie for shopping.

Have fun on your cruise! I was on the Serenade 3 sailings ago, and it was great! There is a ton of info about getting to St. John and which beach to visit when you get there on the St Thomas/St John board. There are two ferry lines, one from Red Hook and one right by the cruise ship pier. Links to schedules and pricing for both on are the board.

Many people take the trip to St. John on their own and save some $$$. You catch a cab, then a ferry, if you get there in time, or wait for another ferry, then another cab to Trunk Bay. We did the RCL excursion. There was a boat waiting for us right next to the Brilliance in St. Thomas. We got on, had a guided tour on the way, and were soon in St. John where tour vehicles awaited us for the short ride to Trunk Bay, with narration and picture stops along the way about St. John and Trunk Bay. And, if we would be late getting back (which included a rum punch drink), RCL would wait for us. For the $$ involved, we'd take the RCL trip. It's worth it.
