Izmir shopping from crusie ship dock?

Hello everyone!

We will be taking a tour to Ephesus but we will have the afternoon free. I love to explore local markets, is there one within easy distance, walking or short taxi ride, of the cruise ship dock? I have heard about the Kizlaragasi Han Bazaar, which sounds wonderful but as we're in Izmir on a Sunday I'm afraid the bazaar will be closed. Any information on the bazaar open days or shopping alternatives would be greatly appreciated.

The bazaar is huge, you can either walk down the seafront maybe a mile (turn right out of the port) or take a taxi, there were hundreds there when we last called in Izmir. Not sure about Sunday opening, though.
