DATES FOR MARDI GRAS:

 

Mardi Gras Day/Fat Tuesday:

Feb. 28, 2006

 

Mardi Gras Parade season:

Feb. 17 - Feb. 28, 2006

 

Carnival season:

Jan. 6 - Feb. 28, 2006

 

Absolute prime time :

Feb. 24 - 28, 2006

 

When I called to make hotel reservations in Galveston for Feb. 26, 2006, I was told that they have Mardi Gras celebrations on the last weekend of Feb. and the first weekend of March and the price of a room was double what it is any other time. Just wanted you all to know in case you need a hotel room pre or post-cruise during that time frame. I'm sure New Orleans would be even worse than Galveston in availability and price.
