Ponta Delgado- Azores taxis

I will be arriving in Ponta Delgada in early November. We will be in port from 8:00-5:00. If you have been there before is it possible to just get off of the ship and hire a taxi to bring you to the places that you want to see? Are they plentiful and willing to do this. Has anyone done this? What was your experience? Thanks.

In April 2009 we pre booked Gary Travassos in Ponta Delgado in the Azores. We were four people and he had a comfortable Mercedes. He took us on a 5 hour tour of the island and we went to places where buses could not get to. He was very personable and informative. This is the website http://www.azoreantours.com/

cabs are readily available once you get off the ship. if you share with another couple you could cut your cost down.
