bdaddyiii Posted September 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2011 Has anyone went on the secret river tour? Does this tour take all day or is there shopping time still available? I know you have to take the boat across to Playa del Carmen and i was wondering if there was shopping time there also. Thanks for any information that you might have.
luvflorida Posted October 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2011 We did this tour in June and it was fantastic!!! It did take most of the day but you have a little time in Playa Carmen before getting on the ferry for the trip back to Cozumel. It was one of the best excursions that we have ever done and we have done a lot of them.:)

dra3 Posted October 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2011 My fam of 5 did this last year and had a fantastic time. Our guide was Gonzo and he was great. Very informative and fun. After the boat ride there we took a bus to the tour operator. We put on wetsuits and helmets and explored the cave system. The actual swimming in the river was very short, but cool. There was a lunch after the tour which was mainly sandwhiches, salads and fruits. Adults also got a shot of some licorice tasting alcohol. They take lots of pictures but the CD is pretty pricey. You wont be able to take your own camera. They'll make you leave it in the locker. Afterwards we did have about 60-90min of shopping in Playa del Carmen. sumfun2 Posted November 2, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2011 We did this tour last year, and it was definitely lots of fun. We loved wading through the caves and swimming in some areas. When we turned off the lights, it was completely dark - you couldn't even see the hand in front of your face. We ended up buying the picture CD. They had photo flashes set up in the caves, so the pictures looked pretty good. We did this excursion through the cruise line (Celebrity). We had about 2 hours for shopping in Playa Del Carmen, while waiting for the other tours to come back from Tulum, etc. When we got back to Cozumel, it was time to board the ship, so no shopping there. mill231 Posted May 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2012 I have had back surgery, but get around fairly well. How physically fit do you have to be to do this excursian?
jrose1982 Posted December 8, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2013 I'm trying to choose between the Amazing Secret River excursion and Tulum. Has anybody done both? Which is better? I love history, but I love water and geology too. I'd do them both if I could. :(
