Questions regarding the Sea... HELP!

Hi, I was on the Norwegian Sea a LONG time ago. Now I have to make a decision regarding my next cruise. The Sea has all of the ports of call I would like, but I also know she is an older lady. How is she keeping? The dining rooms were designed before the "free style" dining became an option, any comments or concerns? I also heard a rumor she wasn't going to be with the Norwegian Line for very much longer. Are they ignoring her as a result? I'm planning on taking my entire family on a cruise for their Christmas present from me. None of the others have ever been on a cruise ship. 4 adults and 5 "children" Ranging in age from 16 - 22. Would we be better off on a newer ship? A different line for the kids (Carnival)? I want this experience to be a good one for all of us. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions any of you have.

you are going at a holiday...therefore there will be tons of kids aboard! Also, there is something to be said about a smaller ship! WE did the Dawn last spring break and it was way too crowded! As well as big!

This is from the NCL site:

Norwegian Sea will be transferred to the Star Cruises fleet in Spring of 2005 enabling NCL’s parent company to go forward with its plans to modify its fleet profile in Asia with relatively modern vessels of medium capacity rather than mega ships. Medium sized ships offer greater deployment flexibility and more diversification of capacity in a developing market where demand patterns have yet to be established. “This move once again demonstrates the advantage of having a diverse fleet in two divergent markets that can be strategically redeployed as part of an ever changing global marketplace,” Veitch said. “The redeployment of a mid-size vessel such as Norwegian Sea to Star Cruises is optimal for the Asian market and utilizing a state-of-the-art mega ship such as SuperStar Leo is ideal in the extremely competitive North American market.”

3) In October 2005, Norwegian Dream will take over Norwegian Sea’s year round cruises out of Houston sailing Exotic Western Caribbean seven-day cruises calling in Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; and Cancun, Mexico. The company will announce a replacement ship for New Orleans shortly;

OK, now for this question, what will replace the Dream in Europe? Are they abandoning the Baltics cruise? No more Funnel Flip???
