Briarhill Posted October 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2011 There was some discussion the other day about Carnival charging someone $50.00 for changing their name on boarding documents, because they don't match their passport or other ID. Well I read that, and since my boarding documents said Tom and my passport says Thomas, I thought I might be in trouble. So I called the 800 number, and there was a very sweet young lady who told me that yes indeed I would have trouble boarding if the names did not match. She was VERY polite and helpful, and there WAS NOT a charge, and now the names match.
TheGrandparents Posted October 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2011 My name is Jeff, on my D/L and Passport, yet Carnival says Jeffrey. It has not been a problem yet. Go figure........
SadieN Posted October 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 3, 2011 Tom is an accepted and known nickname of Thomas. The OP of the other thread goes by a nickname that is no where near close to his legal name.
TheGrandparents Posted October 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2011 Ok, so in light of all the posting on this subject I called the 800 Carnival number. I explained the Jeff vs. Jeffrey issue and they gave me an Immigration phone number. Ahhhh, no thanks. I then called our TA and she called Carnival. They changed it instantly to match my passport. No big deal and no charge. I printed out a new, politically correct boarding pass. No shoes, no shirt, no boarding problem!
