cruiser1955a Posted October 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2011 Does unused OBC at the end of a cruise, carry over on your NCL account to your next cruise, or is it "use it or lose it" ? I'm not refering to the OBC they give you for the Future-Cruise Credit that you purchase during your cruise. Is OBC applied toward the daily service charge ? che5904 Posted October 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2011 No OBC does not carry over to your next cruise. It all depends on where the OBC originated and the terms that were with it. What happens to it and what it can be used for during your cruise.
Bars7816 Posted October 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2011 OBC is a little tricky. You've got your refundable and nonrefundable. On our last cruise, our OBC from the travel agent was nonrefundable. OBC that I had earned through world points was refundable. Yes, OBC can be used for the gratuities. What I'm wondering is: If I have $250 OBC, and only charge $150 to my NCL card during the cruise. There will also be a $168 gratuity fee on my ship account. Will they apply the remaining ($100) OBC to that, then I pay only $68 to settle the account ? Or, do they have a rule that they never apply OBC to the gratuity charge ? Thanks, I'm not expecting to have any left over, as long as I know that they will cover the gratuity charge with it.
amandajholden Posted October 4, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2011 When I asked NCL I was told that you can not use OBC for gratuities but I've also heard mixed opinions here on CC so some real experience from others may help. I wanted to use OBC for additional tips for the butler & concierge. I thought maybe I could just buy casino chips, wait some time and then cash out so that I'd have cash for gratuities. garycarla Posted October 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2011 You can use it for the normal tips on drinks, and the daily service charge. Extra cash tips - no. Personally, even if somebody said I could carry it over, I would never do it. But, I guess that does not matter. Spend it. Enjoy.
