How far from Caye Caulker to shark/ray alley?

I was wondering if this required a tour or if one could just use the water taxi service to go over to Caye Caulker and snorkle?

Shark ray is off the coast of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker. You cannot swim out to the reef from the shore. you will still need to book a tour.

The best place to snorkel from shore is the split...Lots of fish star fish. Sometimes you will see a ray or a shark.

You might want to check out Coral Breeze tours. They offer a Caye Caulker only tour, if you want to snorkel at "the Split" or a Caye Caulker/Shark Ray Alley tour. I am doing the Caye Caulker/shark Ray alley tour with lunch for $75. That is a lot cheaper than the ship which used to charge about $109, they no longer offer it thru the ship anymore.
