What airport do you use when cruising out of Galveston?

Hello,

One of my favorite Princess ship's the Crown Princess will be doing cruises out of Galveston late 2012. I know absolutely nothing about Galveston and cruising from there. I tried looking at flights on Expedia to get an idea but, evidently, you can't fly into Galveston. Where do you fly into when you cruise out of Galveston? What tips do you have? I know at some point I will sail the beautiful Crown again and am looking at Dec 2012 but want to see what I need to know.

The closest airport is Hobby (30 miles) and the least expensive to get to Galveston.

Galveston is a wonderful old City with a tremendous amount of history.

It would be nice of you could arrive early and stay a few days.

The first weekend in December will have the annual Dickens on the Strand festival (galvestonhistory.org)

1. We try to always fly southwest and they only fly to Hobby.
