vtsoccermom Posted October 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2011 I'm not interested in booking an excursion, but doing some sightseeing on our own. There are places we as a family want to see (Turtle Farm, Hell, etc). Are there scooters for rent near the dock?
TurtleTagger Posted October 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 11, 2011 Cayman Auto Rentals does have scooters, but unless you are comfortable driving in traffic conditions akin to Burlington during rush hour, a car or even taking the public bus would probably be a better bet. The corridor from the port area in George Town, across 7MB, up to West Bay where your attractions of interest are, is heavily trafficked during most hours and there are little or no shoulders along most of the route. The Turtle Farm, Hell, Dolphin pens and northern Seven Mile Beach access areas are all in the same general area.

SeeSharp Posted October 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2011 Our group likes to rent scooters. We are motorbike people. Places like Cozumel and Nassau, even Tortola, (where they drive on the wrong side) can be fun. Cayman is not one of those places. It's work. Like a previous poster stated, traffic, wrong side driving, and locals in a hurry. Read through these boards, and you'll see a ton of things that you can do on your own, and plan on your own.
