Caye Caulker on our own

Arriving on the NCL Star.....what is the best way to get to Caye caulker on our own? Want to get in some snorkeling.

There is no reef snorkeling from Caye Caulker.

You have to hire someone to do the short ride out to the reef.

The main place to snorkel from Caye Caulker would be at the split & not much to see there & we have not done that.

For the trip to the reef, we'd suggest Coral breeze Tours. Check their site for the info.

To get to Caye Caulker on your own, catch the local water taxi which is to your left in a very short walk, after turning left as you leave the Tourist Village.

We had looked at Coral Breeze but I am a little concerned about the boat that they use...it seems too enclosed for me. I am prone to seasickness and prefer something open.

With the Coral Breeze boat, I prefer to sit in the shade, partialy under the roof of the boat & my wife who can't get enough sun will sit toward the rear of the boat where it is fully open & you are exposed to all of the elements.

To us it offers the best of both worlds.
