no more topless sunbathing?

DW and I used to go up to F deck fairly often on sea days, always a nice breeze and never crowded. It was funny to watch these old guys creep up the stairs, go directly to the rail and pretend to be so interested in the horizon. I always though it was funny they had drink servers up there, I mean, that must have been the #1 job for servers on the whole ship!:)

The service was GREAT on that deck! (or so I've been told :D)

My wife and I were on the Fantasy this past January and they didn't have a topless deck on it. they did in the past but tha was a long time ago. I think that they have replaced all of these with water parks. The top deck on the Fantasy is now the water park.

If they didnt allow the kids in the water park could we have a topless water park?

I am hoping that the Victory might still have the adult deck but as I read here it sounds as if they might be gone on most ships now. I gotta say I was raised by great parents that thought they were doing me good by sheltering me from ANY nudity. Heck they even sheltered me from anything CLOSE. I always felt that anything like that was bad (religious). So I grew up thinking all those natural thoughts were wrong and thus the shame. Many years later (I am 49 now) I have come to realize that was not the best way to raise a child. Again, I am not saying my parents were bad,, just mis-guided. They were doing what they thought was best and doing it very well :(

A few years ago a co-worker and I DID just happen to walk upon the only nude beach in the US in N. Miami Florida. Given the opportunity I decided to do it. I told my co-worker to stay at the other far end of the beach while I experienced the environment. I gotta say that even though Playboy was there filming a bunny interview and there were plenty of women (60-70% men though) there nude it was a great experience. Within a few minutes of the initial shock or aw (:D) I began to get over the fact that there was nudity. I remember buying a pair of sunglasses from a hut there and the old lady that sold them to me was fully nude. I didn't even think about the fact she was nekked lol. ( I lost my sunglasses in the waves when I went in naked and forgot about them being on my head). It was just nice to get OVER the whole naked thing. It's just nudity. Now I am NOT a nudist, not even close. But in the right place or situation , who cares. But my wife and I plan to go to the Orient Beach while at St. Marten and probably on our balcony if it is private enough. I want her to experience this also.

My point is for those that might be reading this and think it is wrong,, wow ,,, I want to say GET OVER IT ( an Eagles song comes to mind) but I won't go that far. I will say to try to think about it from the point of view that not everybody has the same hangups as others may. The more parents try to shelter their kids from any nudity, the more they will try to find it. I raised my boys to just know that nudity is not wrong but most forms of pornography are just because they are not real!! lol

I hope my ship has the deck still but if not I will spend some time on my balcony where I can get rid of some of MY tan lines LOL.

Sadly, no. The Topless area on the Victory is "officially" gone. However, that being said, the DW and I always end up on the Funnel Deck, and we both go topless. It is possible to position your chair/lounger on the deck where you will not be visible from either the water slide or other decks. If you let the waiters know you are up there, they will also provide bar service (the deck is almost always empty - even on a Sea Day, so the waiters rarely make the hike.) Even though the staff was aware that a woman was topless (because we do drink a fair bit,) no one said anything.

You will get the random man / men who cruise that deck hoping to see some breasts that don't belong to his girlfriend/wife. Unless they are trying to take pictures (which only happened once in over 10 years of cruising,) we just ignore them. If they need to see someone elses breasts that badly, we feel bad for them and figure we are doing them a service. :D

If you do go to Orient Beach, Club Orient is the completely nude side. You can have the cab driver drop you at the entrance (it is a hotel/resort - but the beach is open to all.) You are free to walk through the resort to the beach. Grab a couple of chairs / umbrella (someone will find you to collect money from them before the end of the day.) We always sit by the beach bar - for obvious reasons ;) . The lady behind the bar is from Denmark and speaks both English and French (if you had a concern.) They do take credit cards, too. Be careful of her drinks, even I as a trained professional find them POWERFUL! They have a happy hour that starts at 3PM, I think - two for the price of 1. Line starts early and gets long.

As for your DW not wishing to go nude, it is not a problem on the beach. Even on the nude side by Club Orient, you will find people in various stages of nudity. Since the beach is public, you do get your fair share of "walkers" on the beach trying not to gawk at the nude people. See my comment above about the sad men on the Topless Deck. If it gets to be too annoying, I start rubbing sun tan lotion on my and DW's genitals (that typically gets them to look away.... LOL! :D

Enjoy your cruise. When are you going? We are on the Victory in July (22nd.)

Oh the wife is willing and excited. This will be her first chance in what might be called "public" but she loves to go nude. We have a cabin we call our own (it's just a rental lol) in central ohio near Hocking Hills (ValleyViewCabins.com) we go to every year in the winter. We go in the winter when it is the coldest outside so we keep the fire going hot enough so we can shed our clothes for the 2 or 3 days we spend there. There is an awesome large hot tub outside the front door that we love to use (naked also of course).

We are going on Carnival Victory from San Juan Dec 11,2011 It's just going to be my wife and I this time. We went to Western Carribean the last time with both of our kids (lol kids,,,, they were 20+ years old at the time). But we are looking to still be very social on this trip. Looking for some similar aged, similar minded people to at least spend some time on the ship with even if we don't share in any excursions.

We would have volunteered for the position of link minded people; however, we are cruising in July. The DW simply loves Hot Tubs (esp. during the colder months.) Too bad you live so far away (we are in Chicago;) otherwise, we would have somehow found a way to invite ourselves to your cabin! Enjoy your trip and popping your wife's public cherry! :D

I can add some more .... perky, droopy, pre-baby, post baby (any woman can tell you the difference), post menopausal.

Kind of sounds like some of the seven dwarfs: Dopey, Grumpy, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, and Happy. Ok Happy sounds more like an onlooker!
