basketballmom Posted April 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2005 What is a jitney? I see it referred to in many posts here. BTW - thanks to everyone with your helpful comments on Nassau. Things are starting to come together for our day plan:)
scubagirrl Posted April 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2005 Jitneys are small independent buses - they hold about 28 people, and cost $1 (local) - $2 (to lyford cay or south ocean area) to travel around the island on particular routes. Each jitney ( or bus) has a designated route, which is clearly marked on the outside of the bus, including the route#. The #10 jitney will take you to the Cable Beach area. Most others travel into the local areas mostly to bring folks to work and back. Jitneys on tourist routes come along every 2-3 minutes. When using the jitney, you will need to pay attention to your stop, and call "next stop" as you approach. You pay as you leave the bus, and you must have exact change. You may flag down a jitney along it's route just by hailing it like a cab. (Put your arm up). It's very easy. Jitneys run from 6am to about 6:30pm daily. JerseyGirl23 Posted April 5, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2005 I have a stupid question. Are the pools and waterslides at Atlantis heated? We're planning on going in December and the air may be chilly.
scubagirrl Posted April 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2005 Last I heard, they were NOT heated. People complain about this all the time. Although, depending on the preceding weather, the sea water can still be warm enough to enjoy in early December.
