Ubermann Posted April 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2005 Can anyone recommend a hotel in Seattle near the Amtrak station? We are just staying overnight so it doesn't have to be anything fancy, just clean and convenient. Thanks. stan wood Posted April 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2005 I would let the internet be your guide. Find out what area you're in and search the area through the internet. There are so few people that use this site compared to some of the islands that you may not get information directly from someone. Consider using Priceline. They allow you to pick your area and usually get rates half off the normal price. It may be cheaper to get a national chain that is a couple miles away from your area and pay a taxi a few bucks than staying right near the station (and quieter). I'm not sure this is much help, but good luck. There is a ton of info on the net. Also, many of these hotels have 800 numbers so you may be able to call and find out about the area. Ellya Posted April 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2005 There are not a lot of hotels in that area. The area surrounding is on the edge of a more industrial area and near Safeco Field. You will probably have to take a cab where ever you are going, so you may as well widen your search to the downtown area. You will find more choice there and the cab fare should be reasonable. You could try Priceline or Hotwire for a downtown hotel. Some of the lesser expensive hotels are near the Seattle Center, a bit farther north but still not out of the question. Look for something in the downtown business area, Pike Place Market, or Seattle Center. These will all be close enough to the cruise terminals. momtomatt Posted April 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2005 We are cruising out of Seattle and are planning on arriving on PM of Thurs, so we can see area. We will have our 11yr old w/us. Thinking of either Westin or Sheraton? Any suggestions appreciated.
love2cruiseseattle Posted April 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2005 The closest hotel to the train station, about a 5 minute walk is the Best Western in Pioneer Square. I would check out a few of the travel website for reviews.
Ellya Posted April 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 7, 2005 I have stayed at the Sheraton and it is very nice. It has a pool which is rare downtown and might be fun for your 11 year old. The location is good, right in the middle of the shopping area. What types of activities interest your family? With three days there are a lot of fun things to do. Some quick ideas are: - Boeing Museum of Flight (not walkable, take a cab) - Seattle Aquarium and walk along the waterfront - walking distance - Seattle Center (which includes: Experience Music Project, Pacific Science Center w/IMAX, carnival rides, Space Needle) - ride the monorail there - Seattle Art Museum - Woodland Park Zoo - take a cab If you are going to rent a car, there are more choices which would get you out into the countryside a bit more. calikak Posted April 8, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2005 I actually like the Sheraton a little better than the Westin, but the Westin is a couple of blocks closer to the monorail and about 4 blocks closer to Pike Place Market and the waterfront. But really it's only a few blocks difference, not a huge amount.
