Whales

I have read that whales can be spotted in Polynesia in the fall. Has anyone taken a PG-offered whale watching excursion or can anyone recommend any independent ones?

Has anyone spotted whales from the ship this season?

Heard whales while diving in Moorea, but didn't see any. I beleive there wasn't a whale watching excursion on our Aug 10th cruise. Maybe it is a bit early for whale watching since it would still be considered winter in paradise.

We just returned at the end of October and went on the Dr Poole excursion with PG in Moorea and saw 3 whales. In fact we got close enough to be able to get in the water to see them. One of the whales breached the water no more than 6 feet from the boat. Pretty exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were there end of October last year and never saw a whale. So I guess maybe, maybe not.:)

Ooo... We are going in Oct; I'd be thrilled to see whales!! As one naturalist told me once - most wildlife, they just don't read the guidebooks;)
