2boyzmom Posted April 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2005 I read on another post that the Legend is going into "Dry Dock". Does this happen after every season? What do they do??? Hopefully fix the damn slide!!!
Boston6 Posted April 5, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2005 There's "wet dock" and "dry dock". In dry dock, the ship is placed in a special enclosed dock where water can be pumped out and the underside of the ship can be tended to. While the underside is being cleaned/repaired/painted, the inside usually gets some sprucing up too. In wet dock, they basically do the same stuff as drydock but don't do any of the work below the water-line. Drydock is scheduled for every 2-3 years or so, unless emergency work is required. Drydock is mucho more expensive than a wet-docking. Here's a pic of a ship in drydock - cut & paste into your browser http://www.usswisconsin.org/Pictures/1980-90%20pic/132%20%20C.%20McRae%20%20Drydock%20'89.jpg
