the thing is it's not just children. Should an adult with a cold refrain from gambling in the casino? How many slot machine handles do you want to pull now? How about those dice on the craps table? How about sitting in close proximity playing 21? Gimme a break!

I agree.

Yes, I do think an adult who is sick should refrain contact with the public. I know I do by distancing myself from people, carrying individual wipes with me so my hands are kept clean, and letting people know they may not want to get too close. Of course, this is if I get sick while on vacation. If I were to get sick before vacation and know I would not be over before going, I would cancel. Who wants to travel and try to have "fun" when they feel like death warmed over? Besides, it is what travel insurance is for.

So, for me, adults who are ill and still place themselves around others are, quite simply put, rude and inconsiderate.

I do understand that germs are everywhere and it is impossible to avoid them.

And sorry for the strong language, it was un-necessary.

But from Intrudr's own graphic discription, including 'Strep Throat' it sounded like it might have been a good idea to limit other childrens exposure.

Yeah...but he did say she was on an antibiotic for 6 days prior to sailing...I'd have no issue with my child playing with a child that had been on antibiotics that long.....the coughing wouldn't have bothered me that much either.

If you go into any situation where there are a group of kids, there are bound to be a good percentage of them coughing or sneezing. Most parents understand this, and accept it.

I haven't read the fine print on cruise insurance BUT I'm sure it doesn't cover the common cold....or even hacking up a spleen. An allergy drip can cause hacking up a speen as well.

My kids even as babies that were NOT in daycare...were sick with colds/ear infections and sore throats quite a bit. If a child is not in a plastic bubble, they'll catch everything that floats through the air. It's inevitable.

After they catch enough crap..eventually they build up immunity and stop getting sick as frequently...in short, they grow up. :D

What a joyous time that is!!

Once the antibiotic is in the system and the fever has been down for 24 hours you are generally considered no longer contageous. That's what the doc said when we went thru the strep throat, Rota-Virus, Roseola winter from He!! we just had.
