Straw Market Hours??

Anyone know the hours of the straw market?? We are there on a Tuesday at 8:00am and figured we might hit that right away then do the beach thing... thanks for any help you can give on this.....

I think the straw market starts opening around 9 am.. They start closing around 5, with some vendors staying to about 6pm.

I thought our tour guide said they close at 6:30.

Basic rule of thumb for most Caribbean ports of call

When do the stores/markets open? When the first cruise ship docks.

When do they close? When the last cruise ship leaves.

 

Hours might be different if there are no ships in port or if it is an island holiday, but most islands will follow the rules above cause they don't want to miss a single $

Since each strawmarket vendor is independent, they come and go as they please. Some will arrive at 9am some at 11 - Some close up early and get home to family, some stay til the end. You might still find a few vendors open at 6:30, but most have long gone by that hour.

Suggest you visit the straw market early in the day. By late afternoon the natives get even more arrogant and rude than usual.

For nearly 20 years, I haven't come across a rude or arrogant bahamian that wasn't getting attitude from some nasty tourist.

I've worked for Club Med in the past, and have had to bite my tongue many time. You reap what you sow.

We just returned from Bermuda...all I heard before we went was how friendly the locals are...we did not come across anyone rude, but I will tell you that we go to PI once a year (timeshare), and I find the locals there are much more friendly and out-going. Of course, it is a totally different

atmosphere from British Bermuda. Just my honest opinion...
