LovestocruiseIII Posted November 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2011  After watching prices for a few weeks and having only a small window in which we can sail i finally found a great deal!!! The problem is I booked a suite GTY it was very in expensive and the problem came soon after I booked. I have a FCC from when I booked on my last sailing, I held my sweet deal and then called RCCL to have my d+ discount applied plus my FCC and then the problems began (well maybe not a huge issue). Our cruise departs in just under two weeks, we have not been assigned a room, nor have they applied my fcc. My FCC is more than the price of the cruise by a small amount, but when I called I was told I had to pay balance and I would be refunded once the FCC was applied and that would allow my GTY to actually turn into a real room, That was wednesday, and since I paid I keep getting a notice (several per day) that my courtesy hold has expired,OMG these normally come during the middle of the night and my last one just woke me up and I'm so concerned. I called RCCL and have been assured all is ok, but I've never had to wait that long for a room assignment, or any discounts applied. I sail in less than two weeks, any idea's???
craig0304 Posted November 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2011 If its been two working days, I'd call back and get them to sort it. We had a guarantee balcony in may and it was assigned 48 hours after paying in full. Get everything in writing and take names dates and times so they can't argue about fixing it. I'm sure it'll be fine, just keep your evidence that you did the right thing.
LovestocruiseIII Posted November 13, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted November 13, 2011 Thank you for the advice, I have called a few times and am assured each time all is well, but the department that assigns rooms was closed Friday thru Monday. I know there was only two suites available just before they put up the guarantee room, but one of the people that I spoke with from RCCL said they may have held back some rooms. I'm unsure why they would hold back anything other than to get people to think its almost sold out booking.
rummenroman Posted November 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 13, 2011 I've booked an GTY before, and didn't have a room until 3 days before sailing. I wouldn't worry much about not having a room assignment. My main concern would be the discount and getting that all sorted out.
Paulxyz2004 Posted November 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 13, 2011 Assignment of GTY cabins can be as late as check-in. Nothing to worry about.
LovestocruiseIII Posted November 13, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted November 13, 2011 My main concern is getting my money back as they said i would. Ive purchased FCC before and all my credits where added at the time I booked and it wasn't as it is now. I know i'll at least be in a Suite so that really don't matter to me, my DH on the other hand seems to have to know what room and where ASAP... I'm certain he wants to plan his path to the casino and back to our room. :D
stephanie1 Posted November 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted November 13, 2011 I have heard of cabins being assigned at check in. I would keep calling back even if you have to fib and say that you need to give contact info to your family. In fact, try to get a supervisior. LovestocruiseIII Posted November 13, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted November 13, 2011 I have heard of cabins being assigned at check in. I would keep calling back even if you have to fib and say that you need to give contact info to yourfamily. In fact, try to get a supervisior. They have explained that the department that does assign rooms, and applies my FCC is off friday thru monday for the holiday. I'm not sure how true that is, but I will wait until monday evening to call if nothing has been done. I hate to call when no one there can assist me with this. Thanks for all the info!! LovestocruiseIII Posted November 15, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted November 15, 2011 They did apply my FCC yesterday and said i will receive my refund in 48-72 hrs. I just checked online and no room assignment yet, but that as a few said is not abnormal. And no more emails canceling my reservation so things are looking up!!!:) Thanks for all the help!!!! LovestocruiseIII Posted November 19, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Ok, we are 7 days from sail away, and still no room assignment, The huge problem is that per RCCL we have to be assigned a SR to beable to add our 3rd pax. All that said I understand policy is it could be assigned up to sailing date, but you cant add another pax after the manifest has been submitted. I really wish they would not have told me last week I would be assigned in a day or two.
Cigar King Posted November 19, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Why did you buy a GTY in the first place if having a assigned cabin is so important?
LovestocruiseIII Posted November 19, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Why did you buy a GTY in the first place if having a assigned cabin is so important? Sorry I should have explained that I really needed an accesable room, however none where available. That said, I have booked in a suite, and can get through the door with no problem, but I cannot get ththrough the door on any lower catagories. The only option was a suite GTY. LovestocruiseIII Posted November 19, 2011 Author #14 Share Posted November 19, 2011 Are the doors wider for a suite? Yes by several inches. Ill also add that when I called and spoke to both C&A and the booking department I was assured there would not be an issue of getting our room assigned ASAP.
