Cell Phone charges

Does Carnival (like NCL) have a tower that results in very extra charges. Once onboard are you charged extra for calls. I know if you are out of your area , roaming chgs occur, but do you get charged extra from using phone on the Ship? Thanks once again from a newbie to Carnival

Yep. If u have a smart phone make sure u turn it off because u could get additional charges for calls, texts, emails, data etc. Sometimes the data doesn't work on the ship and U could put your phone in airplane mode and should be ok, but just be careful. I just turn mine completely off oncemon the ship and leave it that way till we get back. If u want to use it in port check with your provider for ratesnand make sure you have international calling on your phone. You don't need international calling on the ship.
