nonna5 Posted December 27, 2011 #26 Share Posted December 27, 2011 What are your favorites? Sorry it took so long - Gumbo Bar, Mario's, The Original Mexican Cafe, Mosquito Cafe, Millers and of course for candy, soda and ice cream at LaKing. I also noticed that you are going to be on the Mariner 11/2/12 cruise. I will be also. I see you have done this cruise before. It will be my first transatlantic and also my first time to Rome. I am so looking forward to it. Hopefully we will be able to meet. Susan

Yesterday evening, we drove to East Beach on ship channel in Galveston, and watched the Carnival Magic sail away into the Gulf of Mexico. Wishing we were on it, we then went to Mario's for Italian food. And yes we reminisced joyfully about our adventures recently in Rome, the TA cruise and our cruises next fall. Presently we have no plans to be staying in Rome again, but who knows, we both threw coins in the fountain. For us the transatlantics are wonderful, I know we will meet. Know you are on the Roll Call,:D and my better half is Galveston Cruiser. We have sailed with noteboy also a couple of times. They are a hoot. I just posted on the Roll Call asking him a couple of questions about tours. We will also be on the same transfer from the hotel to the port. If you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. My grandson and I are getting so excited. Christmas we were huddled in a corner going over what he would like to see in Rome. I will being throwing a coin in the fountain also. :D I am so looking forward to meeting everyone. Susan

nonna5 Posted December 27, 2011 #30 Share Posted December 27, 2011 How old is your grandson? He will be turning 15 in January. I usually cruise solo but when I asked him if he wanted to go of course he said yes and his parents agreed to it also. He goes to a private school and has already gotten the okay from them. He will be bringing school work with him to do on sea days.
nlt46 Posted December 27, 2011 #31 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Try Gaido's for good seafood...it's a Galveston tradition! There are lots of locally owned restaurants on the island as you can see from the above list. I really did not enjoy Gaido's this past summer. There are other places much better.
