Questions about Kennedy Space Center/Dawn

What time is disembarkation,generally, at Port Canaveral? Has anyone taken the Up Close Tour at Kennedy Space Center? If so, do you get off the bus for any sites? What are the pros/cons?

Hi..dont have all the answers but I see that the ships is schedule to leave port canaveral at 8pm. Well this is for my June 6th cruise. We are doing universal that day and was happy to see that we are leaving later.

I think I was off the ship at 9 a.m. I don't know if that was the Up Close Tour but there is a bus (that runs every 15 minutes I would say) where they explain some stuff and you can also get off at two different sites. It was interesting, I liked it. you go to an observatory tower to see the launching pad closer and there is a place where they sell hot dogs and this type of stuff. Was a good place to eat, there wasn't a lot of people.

We went on the up close tour a few weeks ago. This tour is booked for a specific time during the day. We purchased our tickets about 10AM, and were on the 1PM tour. It took about 2 hours. I think that it goes to some of the places the included tour bus goes, but goes closer to the launch pads and you get a tour booklet. The driver and guide were very informative.

 

We stayed there until 5:30 and did not get to see everything. It was definitely a worthwhile day.
