Albums in the Attic Posted November 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2011 We won't dock until 2PM EDT in June. Our biggest priority would be to get to Boca Tabla. Would that allow enough time to get there with an independent operator? Also, are there any recommendations for viewing the sunset in that area? Lastly - would walking around Willemstad still be an option after dark? Thanks for any help.
Isa65 Posted November 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2011 You should be in time to visit Shete Boka national park (Boca Tabla). It will be very hot when you get there, so don't forget sunscreen, a hat/cap and good walking shoes. Any operator will be able to let you experience an unforgettable sunset as you drive back along the southern coast. Once you're back at the pier area, you may walk around or even have the driver drop you off in Willemstad. Shops do close around 6 p.m., though. I don't know your arrival date, but during the holiday season and on Thursdays some shops stay open until late. Also, the shops in the Renaissance Mall (next to the pier) will remain open. There are jewelry stores, souvenier shops, one great perfume store and places where you can get designer handbags, etc.
AmandaKaye79 Posted November 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2011 If you find a tour that will take you to Boca Tabla from 2pm-11pm, please come back and let us know. We will be there in July and this is where we want to go as well, but we haven't found any tours as of now that will go in the afternoon.
Isa65 Posted November 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 27, 2011 If you mail any tour operator I'm sure they'll have options for you after 2 p.m. Curacao is not a busy cruise port, so the operators work around the arrival times of the ships. Also, you will find MANY taxi vans just outside the pier exit willing to take you to Boca Tabla. These folks can tell you lots about the island, are very punctual and trustworthy. Personally I would go with a small bus or taxi in order to get personal service and save time (not having to wait for everyone to gather and get in/out of the big tour bus). Have a great cruise!
