Is it too early to talk about.....toilet seats?

Whats more amazing than the size of the toilet seat is that this topic is TWO pages long.

Really????

Lol. Someone go post on the Serenade of the Seas next roll call sailing and demand a photo of the toilet seat. It's the only way to know for sure. Or if everyone wants to chip in for airfare and cruise costs for me , I'd be happy to go check it out

How come none of you warned me about the terribly narrow, bizarrely shaped toilet seats on the Serenade?

They were so uncomfortable! It is a narrow ledge, more akin to the bare rim below it, then the flatter, wider expanse we are all used to here in the States.

I actually made a tour of public restrooms hoping to find the normal ones - to no avail.

Having cruised on Radiance 2 years ago, I am positive these were not present. I made note of it on my survey, it's uncomfortable and looks so cheap. It really sends a terrible message to new cruisers. I was very disapointed to see them. It is so cheap looking and tacky!

How bored are you this morning?

Lol....I'm already here. Would be happy to take pix of it if I knew where it is. Lol

A new type of scavenger hunt....i am now going to be looking for this unusual toilet the next two weeks. Just checked the one in my cabin and it does look new...but I guess I never paid enough attention before to know if this is a new style. Lol

Take a picture of your cabin commode!

I just took a non-scientific poll in Windjammer and the conclusion is that for those of us "weight challenged" folks it is fine but for the "Boney Butt" passenger it is uncomfortable.

For further research however, Mr. Ski is organizing a Toilet Crawl.

I guess when you can't be out and about playing golf on one of the beautiful islands in the Caribbean..........organizing a Toilet Crawl on the ship is the next best thing!!:D Will drinks be served at each 'watering hole' ?

Too funny!!!!:p Thanks for the compliment - you know, I am about 20 lbs lighter now than my cruise on Radiance 2 years ago! Enjoy your vacation!

{I promise to try not to reply anymore, I like Ms. Ski's conclusion and I'll let the thread die here....unless we do get that commode pic.}

Well......as long as you brought up the subject of toilet seats...our cabin that we had on the EOS, the toilet seat needed to be replaced. It was stained permanently, and I know because I tried to clean it several times. It was disgusting! I'm not a clean freak, but I also tried to get the stains off the rug and couch.

  • 6 years later...

I know that this is a very old post that I am responding to. Just in case anyone is still reading this thread, I thought I'd throw in my two cents worth. My husband and I just returned from our first cruise on the Serenade of the Seas. Yes yes yes, the seats on the toilets on the Serenade are almost unusable.

My husband had a bowel resection a few years ago, and as a result, has to sit on the toilet for some time. It was so uncomfortable and painful. I also found it to be unpleasant. It was like sitting on our toilet at home, with the seat up.

We won't cruise with Serenade again, mainly because of this issue.

When my son was younger and still toilet training, we brought a padded seat topper for him and it worked like a charm on the cruise ship. Wonder if there are adult sized versions that one could bring if sailing on the Serenade (or one that the steward could bring in if one were to complain).

I was on the Serenade a couple of weeks ago and don't remember that. There's so many better things to remember.

Because this thread is from 2011 and has inexplicably been resurrected! Information from 7 years ago is unlikely to be current & accurate now.
