Does anyone know if you can use euros in st martin

You can use Euros, but there is no need to change dollars to Euros, as dollars are accepted everywhere, and in some cases can be an advantage, as some bars and restaurants offer 1 Dollar = 1 Euro.

I understand the Euro is only valid on the French side of the island and not the Dutch side, even though both France and Holland have the Euro as their own currency.

 

The US dollar can be used on both sides.

You can use the Euro at many/most places on the Dutch side of the island, small vendors probably excluded.

 

Grocery stores usually post prices in Dollars, Guilders and Euros.

At Baywatch, our fav on Orient Beach, they accept dollars 1 to 1 as Euros. So you are getting a 20% discount.
