cbee Posted April 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Has anyone stayed at the Hilton London Kensington? Seems a bit off the beaten track but does it have any redeeming graces?
uptheboro Posted April 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2005 I returned on Thursday from a 4 day stay at this hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. Do not be put off by its location- we thought its position was fantastic, you literally walk out of Gloucester Road tube station and the hotel is there- via Waitrose supermarket. The tube link is excellent- on the same line as Kings Cross and most of the major destinations- Knightsbridge ( Harrods), South Kensington ( Museums), Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square etc etc. We bought a family day pass for 2 adults and 3 kids for ₤8.60 per day. We hopped on and off the tube and buses all day.The hotel is a pleasant 15 minute walk to Harrods and the Natural History, Science and Victoria and Albert museums. In the vicinity of the hotel are restaurants, bars, coffee shops and supermarkets. The area felt very safe. The hotel itself is newlt renovated- modern and comfortable. Rooms are big- we had one that took 5 easily. Try to go for the breakfast option- you can stock up for the day. The hotel doen't have a pool, but does have a gym. We were too busy to have time to swim. We were impressed with London. It is about 6 years since we visited, and it seems to have really got its act together. Hope this helps Fran
