Anyone sailing on the Serenade?

Recommended Posts

Hello:

Anyone sailing on the Serenade February 11th? We are having difficulty getting a balcony, none are left...possibly all purchased by a group.

Also, former Serenade cruisers, please let me know which shore excursions you did in Barbados and Antigua?

Thanking you all in advance.

PButter

We sailed on Serenade last November - most beautiful RCCL ship! In Barbados, a few in our group did the snorkel on Catamaran with the turtles - they loved it, and in Antiqua, we booked the tour with Lawrence of Antigua - it was great. Have fun! Any questions, feel free to ask.

Must do the Tropical Delight Catamaran and Snorkel on Antigua. Captain and crew are great, food is good, and rum flows continuously.

I have been trying to get info on this excursion. It is advertised for serious snorkeling. Is that true? Also, is this your typical booze cruise with loud Caribbean music and a bunch of drunk young people?

Antigua, we took a taxi from the dock and went sight seeing ... then he dropped us off at a beach (Turners, I think) ... picked us up at the given time, then shopping. At Barbados we did the swim with turtles, snorkle the shipwreck and beach trip. It was great! We do not drink, but the drinkers on board we not obnoxious. When we got back we took a taxi tour of the island.

We didnt do a shore excursion in Antigua (big mistake)

I cant remember what we did in Barbados.

St Martin has a nude beach on the other side of the island though. You can take a taxi over. It's funny how the nude people arent neccisarily nice to look at, lol However, there were plenty of restauraunts there and the beach was very nice.

We're on the Serenade for the Jan 14 sailing. In Antigua we booked an excursion with Eli's Eco-tours. In Barbados, we are doing the SilverMoon Catamaran. Both of these are independent operators, not affiliated with RCCL, and book up quickly due to popularity and the small group size taken. Both came highly recommended from other CruiseCritic members. If interested, you can find plenty of information on each tour on the Antigua and Barbados Ports of Call boards here on this site.

I might be mistaken, but isn't Feb 11 the week of President's Day? Is so, a lot of kids have off school one or more days that week, so many families vacation because of that. That's is probably why all of the balcony cabins are sold out already. Perhaps when it is closer to final payments being due, some might open up. Or, if possible, you might want to change to a different week, if sailing with a ship full of kids bothers you.

We sailed this itineary in 2/18/04, we had great weather. We did no excursion in Antigua, but we the Atlantis submarine which was great. My friends did the Harrison Caves which was good. Both excursions are good. You should do the Land & Sea to Soufriere on St. Lucia we had a super time. You will definitely enjoy this cruise. Have a great time.

First, you will have such a great time! We loved the Serenade!!

We highly suggest (based on CC boards we chose these two) Eli's tour in Antigua and the Silver Moon in Barbados. You will just love them. We had 15 people on one trip and 22 on the other. We would see other catamarans with 50 or more people!! I really just cannot say enough about both of these excursions!! :D
