LAC2 Posted December 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2011 Beautiful port. Were there 3 years ago. Took a Princess shore excursion on a sailboat out of the marina. It was awesome. At the time the dock looked new and was just a short walk to shops, lovely beach with restaurants/cantinas, and church. We never made it into the actual town. We were only there for 4 hours or so and wished we could have spent more time there. Would love to go back.
prerel Posted December 31, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2011 We were there in November, twice on a Panama return cruise. Nice place to swim at the end of the pier. At the back of the town is a new construction and road which will be a tiered shopping complex. We walked through the dirt road to the top of the hill where you can see La crucesita. On Sunday there is only a caretaker on the construction site so you won't have any problems walking there. The church at La crucesita is worth a look and you can see it from the hill. We have been there before to see the church so didn't go all the way into La crucesita this time. Preston
Hibiscus13 Posted December 31, 2011 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2011 There is shopping in both Santa Cruz (where the ship docks) and in La Crucecita. It won't matter if it's a sunday or a holiday, everything will be open. A taxi to La Crucecita from Santa Cruz will be 20-25 pesos (they've just increased the rates for the first time in about 8 years). You can walk, it's about 2km but generally quite hot at that time of the year, so make sure you take plenty of water if you decide to stroll along the tree lined boulevards to get there.
