Amount of smoke on Carnival vs. Princess

nice tan though!

!!!!!

The tan is A-OK with me.. the nails and smoking over the railing, not so much.

I am truly conflicted over cigarette smoke. I can't stand it, the roof of my mouth hurts terribly if I breath it in too much. However, I am a huge advocate for our civil rights and liberties and if someone wants to smoke, it's their body and choice.

I can't say for Carnival but I was on the Crown Princess in February and the only place I noticed the smoke was in the outdoor smoking area, which can easily be avoided. I didn't notice smoke on the balcony and we spent quite a bit of time out there. We were on the Lido deck close to the front of the ship.

What a snotty thing to say!! I am doing a 14 night on Freedom, an 8 and a 6 back to back, friends joining us 2nd cruise all in suites and all smokers - ALL self employed (well we are fairly wealthy - self made) and friends in the bulti $$$s, for sure we wont be looking at "demographics", just enjoy meeting GOOD people on board irrespective of race, creed, colour and how much $$$$ is in their back pocket or whether or not they hail from "shall we say middle class"... Just goes to show you, we "demographically correct" folks can drink oor booze, and smoke n oor cruise, just like ALL!!!

As for others, if you dont like it. DONT BOOK IT!!! You KNOW the rules, and if the policy doesnt suit you, then go elsewhere... right now, we CAN smoked iin lounges and on balconies and for sure we WILL do so..

I do sympathise however with the lady who was burned etc... that is NOT ON and as a smoker, I am first to open my big gub to smokers who dont respect safety and rules... I actually take a smokeless ashtray on our balcony incidentally, which has a "wet wipe" underseal to it... dont expect anyone to clean up after me, totally want to keep safe, AND believe it or not, try retain a little smoke from neighbouring properties.... (maybe thats coz Im demographically correct;)

And what an ignorant thing to say.... Do you know what. "demographics" means?

Your Joking right? So a drunk driver is drunk it's his body so know matter how many innocent non drunks he/she runs over its ok ? Sounds like the ACLU(what a joke they are) Smoking isn't just about "your body" read a little about how many people have died of 2nd hand smoke, I am amazed .

My wife and I cruise once a year and I have a puff from time to time on the balcony. If there is someone out on adjoining balconies, I try to be courteous as possible and smoke when there is no one around. I can remember when you could smoke on a jet airliner. Now if I want to smoke on a jet I just open the door and step out onto the wing!!:D:D:D It's just common sense, people- smokers respect the non-smokers, but also don't forget that those who smoke have rights as well!!

The OP asked a simple question about people's experiences with smelling smoke. There was nothing said being judgmental about the act of smoking.

Somone called me snotty because I told them my experiences while I didn't stand in judgement whatsoever, just stated facts. The smoke didn't even bother me for Pete's sake but I did notice alot of it in a lot of places. Whatever, I don't really care one way or the other especially since I was a smoker up until a few months ago. I get smoker's rights. I was the guy smoking where it was allowed because...it was allowed!

So......why don't we get back to the original question, which simply asked to compare the smoke experienced on Carnival versus another line?

dang you all are making me want to start smoking again!!!! Get over it...don't

Iike it don't go around it. if it bothers you so bad just book all 6 cabins around you or go ona dang ship that has no smoking period like celebrity.....just don't expect any fun!

I just deal with it and have not been sent in a coma yet from smoke, drinks, loud New Yorkers, or the folks with saggy pants.....

can we get back to the fat people in scooters who live at the buffet???? or maybe the family reunions with matching tshirts that take over???? Or the cougars that wear far less and not half as sexy as they think?

The fat guys in speedos??? How you are diamond and get free laundry?????anything???

Yes, those that smoke certainly do have their rights, but it is not a right of a smoker to infringe on the rights of a non-smoker.....2nd hand smoke kills!! Non smokers have a right not to have to breathe in your 2nd hand smoke.

I have tried to “bite my tongue” on this But I can’t.

I am a smoker and truthfully I wouldn’t care if I had to go down to a crew deck to smoke, as long as I have somewhere on the ship I can smoke.

The last ship I was on, Glory, last month;

Smoking was allowed on ONE side of the lido. Not on any of the other outside decks; like serenity. The smoking side was always full and often we would share our table with others.

Smoking was allowed in 2 bars – white heat (disco) and blues bar. The dj was in the disco from 10pm to 1am only – the rest of the time the bar was closed – but you could still go in for a smoke. The blue bar had around the same hours but on the 3rd day the band was moved from there to the walk way in front of the casino (I don’t know why) for the rest of the cruise. So no music there to listen to, but a place to smoke.

The casino allows smoking on one side – the side away from the walk way in the back of the casino and at part of the bar. I will admit that even with the separate machines it is all one room and the whole casino was smoky. And the part of the bar that was smoking got larger every night; the bartenders kept moving the sign.

The REST of the public areas are NON SMOKING. In my guess about 95% of the ship.

The cabins are now non smoking – but the balconies are smoking. IMO – you will see more smokers on the balcony as there are fewer places to smoke.

I am not complaining about Carnivals smoking policy – but it seems to me that the more they restrict smoking (both land and sea) the more the non smokers complain.

To the OP – sorry about hijacking your thread. I have never been on another line but do think that Carnival was doing a good job enforcing the rules – on both sides of the ship.

And I do understand “sensitivities” I am allergic to most fragrances – I stop breathing – I can’t tell you how many times I have had to leave because someone with perfume, cologne, or even a strong shampoo sit down near me. But I will not be calling for a fragrance free ship anytime soon.

Please come up with a more original statement! you sound like a copy machine. If it can't be more original, don't say it!!

The world is full of killer chemicals, you just won't acknowledge them or are in denial.

If smoke bothers you, walk on the non smoking side.

To the OP:

I've posted my reply on the Princess thread. Seems like you are getting actual responses to your inquiry over there.

- o -

As a side note, no wonder so many cruisers from other cruise lines visualize us as a bunch of uneducated, low class, rude bunch! The OP posted a legitimate question and, right from the get go, the snarky comments began, followed by the thread drifting away into a completely different direction, back and forth rants, responses that truly question the reading comprehension skills of some, while not answering the question posted.

Reading the thread the OP posted on the Princess board, it seems like she's choosing to sail on them, NOT because how the smoking on Carnival compares to Princess, but because of the way her inquiry was treated here. Pretty shameful...
