Dive Operator Help in Belize

cruzbound

Recommended Posts

We will be in Belize in early April and are trying to decide if we should use the ship excursion (that takes you to Turneffe) or if we should use a private diver operator which takes you somewhere on the Barrier Reef. The two companies I have spoke with so far are Coral Breezes and Sea Sports. Any comments, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I really depend on the members help to assist us in finding the best excursion.

Thanks!

We really like taking the short flight from Belize Municipal airport ( about 1/2 what it cost to use the Belize International Airport with both being on the same 15-20 minute flight) to San Pedro. We fly on Tropic Air http://www.tropicair.com/reservation...htschedule.cfm and we dive with Ambergris Divers http://www.ambergrisdivers.com/CONTACT.htm while there (there are many other dive shops on Ambergris Caye we just like this one, I'm sure a lot of the others are just as good weve just always used Ambergris Divers.

The dive shop and boats are about 3 blocks from the small airport, an easy walk or get a golf cart taxi. Both the airline and dive shop are very professional.

It cost about the same as the two tank dive the ship offers and is a lot better day. The only thing you need to do to make it less stressful is to make sure you get off the ship on one of the first tenders. Go to the persers desk and set this up early on. The rest is pretty easy to pull off and weve done it about six times so far.

With taxis to and from Municipal Airport, the flights, a two tank boat dive and lunch it should cost about $165.00 per person. Non divers will be about $100.00 each.
